Memphis is the birthplace of blues and the capital of soul music. Explore the city’s rich musical heritage by visiting some of its legendary museums. For an entertaining lesson in Memphis music history, visit the Stax Museum of American Soul Music.

The once tiny record store grew into a massively important recording studio in the late 50’s.  The careers of Isaac Hayes, Otis Redding, and Wilson Pickett were launched there. The museum showcases a large variety of memorabilia, artifacts, films, galleries and interactive exhibits.
