Renters Insurance: A Small Price to Pay
July 29, 2016
If you want to protect your belongings you really need to have renters insurance. While your apartment building would be covered against fire, theft, and vandalism, the things you own inside your apartment are not covered by the owners of your apartment community.
Some people think that they don’t need insurance because their belongings aren’t valuable enough to insure. Renters insurance almost always includes replacement cost coverage, which means that if your old TV is stolen then you get the appropriate amount of money to purchase a newer model TV. This insurance is not designed to upgrade your property, but to make you whole again and return you to essentially the same financial condition you were in before the loss.
Renters insurance is very affordable – generally costing between $100 and $175 a year, although this can vary based on the individual and the location.
