Shop flea markets for inexpensive decor

The folks at apartmenttherapy.com have some great tips for how you can decorate your first apartment on a budget.  Here are a few highlights:

  • Shop at home: see what you can pick up from your parents’ house, maybe things from the attic or garage, or things they might not have a use for any more.
  • Visit garage or estate sales, or thrift and consignment shops for bargain-priced items.
  • Look for bargains at TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, or Home Goods.
  • Check out all sorts of great options at Ikea.  You’ll have to order online for now but an Ikea store is targeted to open a 271,00 square-foot store on Germantown Parkway this fall!
  • Shop Craigslist.
