In Downtown and East Memphis: Celebrate the Chinese New Year!
February 18, 2015
The Chinese New Year is a 16-day festival marking the start of the lunar new year, which begins on the second new moon after the winter solstice and is marked by special meals, gift giving and fireworks. The Chinese lunar calendar is associated with the 12 animal signs of the Chinese zodiac that each represent a year in a 12-year cycle. This year the festival begins on February 19th and starts a year of the goat. And if you’re looking for a place to celebrate, 4 Dumplings at 6515 Poplar will be offering special dumplings prepared by Chef Gordon Wang February 19-21 or check out the annual Chinese New Year family day celebration at the Belz Museum of Asian and Judaic Art on February 21 from 12 – 4. Learn about Chinese art and Culture, participate in arts and crafts, and enter a raffle! Admission is free.
