Discovering an independent bookstore can be a fun experience for those looking for an old copy of a favorite or those who just want to peruse the rack.

Here are some great independent bookstores in Memphis:

  • Burke’s Books – You’ll find new released, used classics and rare finds in this cute bookstore on South Cooper Street. They also have sections dedicated to local authors and children. They also offer to buy books too.
  • The Book Place – This isn’t the place to find your rare books or new hardbacks but it is the place for voracious readers who just want to keep looking for that next great story. You’ll find it buried in their racks.
  • Pinnocchio’s Children Books – This small, bright orange house is full of every kind of book a young reader could be interested in, no matter the age!
